DNS (NS2) Migration: Perth AU to Melbourne AU

Manutenção Programada

Hi there,

We’ll be performing migrations of our client NS2 instances - this has been done several times now: once was due to our Adelaide provider closing their business, and this time it’s due to security in the Perth environment.

Rather than perform the bulk migrations using the same end-goal of having separate Virtual Machines that we don’t have proper control of, this time we’ve negotiated a Dedicated Server in Melbourne with a provider we’ve used for 10~ years, which will have our tried-and-verified hypervisor on it, allowing easy growth into the future.

We appreciate your patience especially given how many times we’ve had to move NS2 instances, and are happy with this new plan as it will avoid there being any future requirement to relocate them. In the coming years, we will likely look to do the same thing with NS1 instances - although that has a very low priority compared to NS2.

The order has been placed for the Bare Metal, and it’s expected to come online early next week. From there we’ll build-out the Dedicated Server and the VMM over-the-top, then prepare for these bulk DNS migrations.

Please let us know if you’ve any questions or concerns about these works - we’re always happy to help.

Cheers,
Merlot Digital
