We’ll be performing minor upgrades to our Internet Router #1 (only) firmware, then to its bootloader version.

Due to a fault, we’re unable to perform these upgrades ordinarily, so instead are having to perform a forceful upgrade which will temporarily purge all configuration. iBGP and VRRP will handle this though we do expect tiny interruptions when it goes down and then when the restored configuration establishes itself to normal service.

Due to the fault, we’re sending an engineer to manually perform the upgrades “the old school way”. If this is not done tonight (Sunday 11th October) then it’s likely to be done tomorrow night (Monday 12th October).

We’ve already completed these upgrades successfully on Internet Router #2 (which handles VPS by default).

No action is required from any clients as this is network-level maintenance work. Thanks for your patience.

BMR jobs have successfully run 2 nights in a row, both times very quickly. This is working very nicely.

We’re now moving to finalise the NAS/DA backup side of this, which is an entirely separate system.
The DA backups will be more minimal - there as a self-service emergency option for clients.
